The winning poster in the poster competition for the Totalán Fair 2009

Every year Totalán celebrates its horse fair and this year was no exception.
This year it was organized by “The friends of horses association” and also by Totalán´s Town Hall, the “verdiales” (Spanish folk group) also participated, and there was a bar for food and drinks.
The favourite of all the events was the ribbon race, which is very traditional in this type of celebration and 3 prizes were given to the winners.

Viñeros- Maundy Thursday (1 Video & 14 photos)

The fraternity dates back from 1615 and was founded in the church of ´La Merced´, then later in 1663 almost half a century afterwards, it was divided into 2 parts; The brotherhood of ´El Traspaso´and the other one ´La soledad de Viñeros´.
In 1949, after almost 3 years of being separated both fraternities reconsiled again constituting “Hermandad sacremental de Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno de Viñeros, Nuestra Señora del Traspaso y Soledad de Viñeros y San Lorenzo Mártir”.

From 1949 onwards both ramifications go out in procession under the same name, its main church is the church of “Aurora y Divna providencia de las Reverebdas Madres Dominicas”.
The figure of the ´Nazareno de Viñeros´(the hooded figures) is relatively recent, the original figure was lost in 1931. The fraternity has in its possession 2 thrones, one of Christ which dates back to 1996, which is gold and poly-chrome plated, from the Borroc period, and made in wood, and the throne of the Virgin which was shown for its first time in this year´s  Easter processions.
